Our major activities are all about raising public awareness and communities about all cancer cases and conditions. Information about the testing, diagnostic and treatment options are made available through brochures and different platforms available to empower communities and enabling them to make informed decisions about cancer.
We conduct awareness through various programs and initiatives under Fadlcarda such as:
Curbing cancer on its grassroots level by advocating for early detection needs to reach all age groups. For the Teen awareness, we target high school students and the Toto awareness we target upper classes of Primary schools.
We disseminate cancer information in areas that receive less or no information at all and we advocate for a healthy living lifestyle, preventive measures and early screening and detection. In 2018, we have successfully managed to reach out to Korogocho, Kibera, Garissa, Changamwe and Msambweni.
Every September we take time to visit and spend time with the cancer paediatric wards in Kenyatta National Hospital and spend the day with them and have fun to put a smile on their faces. By making them smile and laugh they remain positive and know that they are cared for because some are neglected by their family members.
We have initiated and organized for walks in various locations such as Kibera, Korogocho and other locations, as a way of creating awareness to the public on the need to be informed regarding various cancer types and participate in our activities.
Cancer care and treatment can be expensive and drains people financially. In many cases, when loved ones lose their children, we endeavor to provide them with financial support to venture in to various income generating ventures to enable them rebuild their lives. This is therapeutic to them.
We conduct various health and medical fund drives to enable the cancer patients access treatment and to enable their next of kin continue with their day to day lives through various empowerment programs.
